Citizens Association of Georgetown Meeting featuring Mayor Adrian FentyMayor Adrian Fenty will speak at the May 11th CAG meeting. We are pleased that he, along with Councilmember Jack Evans, will be present to honor individuals and groups that have contributed to the betterment of Georgetown. The Friends of the Georgetown Waterfront Park will be honored with the William A. Cochran Award for exceptional efforts to protect and enhance the community’s parkland. The prestigious Belin Award will come full circle as it will be presented to Harry Belin for his generosity and spirit of community along with his efforts in preserving historic Georgetown. The Charles Atherton award for exceptional service by a public sector employee will be given to Jerry McCoy for his stewardship of the Peabody Collection. Special appreciation awards will be given to Davis Kennedy, publisher of the Georgetown Current, for his exceptional support of the community, and to the Urban Forestry Administration for their substantial contribution maintaining our tree canopy and their partnership with Trees for Georgetown. Election of CAG officers and four directors will also take place at the May 11 meeting – which is the organization’s annual meeting. The slate is Jennifer Altemus, president; Luca Pivato, Vice President; Tara Scopelitti, Secretary; Bob Laycock, Treasurer; and directors, Diane Colosanto, Brenda Moorman, Louise Brodnitz and Rene Esfandiary. Treasurer Bob Laycock will report on the financial condition of the organization. Please join CAG to hear from Mayor Fenty, along with Councilmember Jack Evans, and honor the members of our community who have made Georgetown a better place. The reception begins at 7 in Blake Hall at St. John’s Church (O Street and Potomac Streets). The meeting, the last one until September, begins at 7:30.
