"Aspects of Georgetown," is an elegantly produced collection of essays by Georgetown writer Edith Schafer.  The essays are based on columns Schafer wrote for the Citizens Association newsletter.

An astute observer of the Georgetown scene, Schafer writes amusingly and provocatively on everything from "Desire Under the Elms" to "Babylon on the Potomac" to "Provenance and the Life of Things," with insights into history, landmarks, houses, gardens, street life, sometimes eccentric residents, and everything that makes Georgetown unique-- all in just 100 pages of delicious reading. This is a keepsake volume which captures the essence of this unique place. The reader will discover why Georgetown has been called "the most civilized neighborhood in the world."

Priced at $13, the book is available at selected Georgetown shops and through the Citizens Association office, with all profits going to CAG. It is a very handsome volume, designed by Georgetown graphic artist Marianne Michalakis, edited by Georgetowner Ruth Saxe, and with a stunning color cover by Washington photographer Maxwell MacKenzie, all of whom contributed their professional services.  For further information about "Aspects of Georgetown", please call the Citizens Association of Georgetown office at  202-337-7313.
