CAG Presents Georgetown ARTS 2009
Three-day Show Features Resident Artists

The artistic talent of Georgetown resident artists will be on view for the first time under one roof at the former Smith and Hawken space at 1209 31st Street for three days in November. The opening reception, Thursday evening, November 19 from 6 to 9, will feature Govinda Gallery owner Chris Murray talking about the history and evolution of the Georgetown art scene -- drawn from his 34 years as a central presence in the ever-changing Georgetown art world.

CAG’s new and unique show of more than 20 Georgetown artists will include painting, photography, sculpture, 2D and 3D mixed media. While some works will be just for display, many will be for sale. Show hours are: Thursday, November 19, from 6 to 9 pm; Friday, November 20, from noon to 8 pm; and Saturday, November 21, 11 am to 6 pm. CAG’s Georgetown ARTS 2009 will be highlighted in the new Gallery Gaze that takes place on Friday evenings.

According to Michele Banks, coordinator of the CAG art show, the call for artists is still open. Click here to view the "Call for Artists". To apply – or volunteer to help -- please send an email to Michele Banks at michele.m.banks@gmail.com. CAG members Heidi Hess, Hayley Gordon Pivato, and Barbara Downs are busy lining up artists for this first-time presentation, making sure the creative works of Georgetown artists are showcased.

Join CAG November 19 to hear long time gallery owner Chris Murray’s fascinating recollection of artists and galleries in Georgetown and his personal insights and stories about the artists who have been influential here. In addition to the wine and cheese, the reception will also feature one of Georgetown’s popular “designer” treats – from Georgetown Cupcake. So mark your calendar for November 19 and the subsequent show on the 20th and 21st – to see your favorite local artists – and to discover new ones in the neighborhood!
